The book is a collection of fables written by the Georgian writer and diplomat Sulkhan Saba Orbeliani between 1686 and 1695. The fables are considered to be the Georgian classics and are taught at schools.

The illustrations in the book are thought to be the most artistic ones ever created in Georgia. After the first edition of in 2010, Z. Mchedlishvili renewed the paintings for the new edition.
