Ekaterine Togonidze

Ekaterine Togonidze, born in 1981 in Tbilisi, debuted as a writer in 2011 and has since made a significant mark on the Georgian literary landscape. She has received several awards for her work, including the most prestigious SABA Award and the Saguramo Literary Prize for Prose.

Ekaterine Togonidze graduated in journalism from Tbilisi State University and in her past, she was an anchor on the news programme MOAMBE and then a host of the morning show ALIONI on Georgian Public Broadcasting. She has written for several Georgian newspapers and magazines.

Ekaterine Togonidze is engaged in social projects and serves to raise awareness about disabilities. Her writing often reflects the issues of people with disabilities and issues of ableism in Georgia.

One of the important areas of Ekaterine Togonidze’s activities is cultural projects aimed at restoring trust between the parties to the conflict, which involve the implementation of joint projects with artists living in the occupied territory of Georgia – Abkhazia. She is a public activist specializing in conflict resolution issues.

Ekaterine Togonidze plays the leading role in the film about the Georgian-Abkhazian war directed by famous Georgian director Nana Janelidze Liza, Go On! The film won the international festival 21st IN THE PALACE ISFF 2024 and received the award for best feature film.

She has participated in many international projects, including Leipzig Book Fair (2013), Frankfurt Book Fair (2018) and she is a two-time fellow of the Literary Colloquium Berlin (2013; 2017).

Ekaterine Togonidze is the author of seven books. Two of them are translated into German and published in Vienna by Septime Verlag.
